In mid-1999, Kelis was singing alongside rap troublemaker Ol’ Dirty Bastard on his cut “Got Your Money,” and her signature Technicolor-spiraled afro & colorful style sparked critics’ interests. Kelis captured feminist desires on her debut album Kaleidoscope, released in December 1999. Two years later she released Wanderland exclusively in Europe, Asia and Latin America. 2003’s Tasty followed and yielded the Top Ten Neptunes produced hit “Milkshake.” In 2006, her fourth album, Kelis Was Here, was released and led by the duly assertive “Bossy.” Kelis has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry – having recorded with willl.i.am, Bjork, Outkast, Raphael Sadaaq, Moby, Enrique Iglesias and Basement Jaxx to name a few.
Kelis has been busy working on her next album with producers such as David Guetta, Burnz, DJ Ammo, Boys Noize, Diplo/Switch & Free School to name a few. The yet to be titled album is slated for release in 2010 on will.i.am/Interscope Records… read less

The video for Kelis’ new single, “Acapella,” will premiere today at www.iamkelis.com. Based on a treatment written by the GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter, the video was lensed in Los Angeles by co-directors Chris Cottam, Rankin and Nicole Ehrlich. Kelis performed at numerous events during last week’s Winter Music Conference 2010 in Miami, including shows with will.i.am, Benny Benassi and David Guetta. She’ll perform on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Tuesday, April 6th.
“Acapella” topped Billboard’s Dance/Club Play Songs chart earlier this month and is now No. 1 on Music Week’s Pop Club Chart in the U.K., where it’s been added by the BBC’s Radio 1. The track, which appeared in People’s “Hot Downloads” column and on Entertainment Weekly’s “The MustList,” was produced by David Guetta (producer of The Black Eyed Peas’ hit single “I GOTTA FEELING”). “Acapella” is the lead single from Kelis’ upcoming album, Flesh Tone, which will be released this summer by will.i.am Music Group/Interscope Records.
Flesh Tone, her first album in nearly four years, was singled out as one of 2010’s “Best Bets” by Billboard. In addition to working with Guetta, Kelis recorded Flesh Tone with several other influential producers, including Free School, Boys Noize, Burnz, DJ Ammo, Benny Benassi and label head will.i.am, who called Kelis “a best kept secret,” in a recent interview with Vibe.com, noting: “She can be big…As big as the Peas.”

Kelis debuted in 1999 with Kaleidoscope, which featured the ubiquitous MTV/BET hit “Caught Out There.” The track entered the U.K. Singles Chart at No. 4 and Kelis went on to win a BRIT award (“International Breakthrough Act”), an NME award (“Best R&B/Soul Act”) and a Q award (“Best Music Video” for “Caught Out There”). Over the past 10 years, she has worked with a wide variety of artists, including The Neptunes, Andre 3000, Björk, Enrique Iglesias and Raphael Saadiq. Perhaps best-known for her GRAMMY-nominated, Top 5 smash “Milkshake,” and the million-selling ringtone “Bossy,” the fashion icon is also a certified chef and a recent graduate of Le Cordon Bleu.
