In mid-1999, Kelis was singing alongside rap troublemaker Ol’ Dirty Bastard on his cut “Got Your Money,” and her signature Technicolor-spiraled afro & colorful style sparked critics’ interests. Kelis captured feminist desires on her debut album Kaleidoscope, released in December 1999. Two years later she released Wanderland exclusively in Europe, Asia and Latin America. 2003’s Tasty followed and yielded the Top Ten Neptunes produced hit “Milkshake.” In 2006, her fourth album, Kelis Was Here, was released and led by the duly assertive “Bossy.” Kelis has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry – having recorded with willl.i.am, Bjork, Outkast, Raphael Sadaaq, Moby, Enrique Iglesias and Basement Jaxx to name a few.

Kelis has been busy working on her next album with producers such as David Guetta, Burnz, DJ Ammo, Boys Noize, Diplo/Switch & Free School to name a few. The yet to be titled album is slated for release in 2010 on will.i.am/Interscope Records… read less

Kelis & Robyn’s “All Hearts Tour” landed in NYC last night for the first of two shows at Webster Hall. Check out the highlights below…

Hitting the stage wearing a multi-colored, patterned bodysuit and a silver platinum wig, it was hard to imagine that Kelis’ fit frame expelled a baby a year ago. While a heartbeat blared through the speakers on the stage, Kelis made the audience, predominantly male, put their hands over their hearts and pledge the following: “I came here for one purpose. I came to dance. I will not stare. I will not judge. I will participate. Because we control the dance floor.” – via Rap-Up.com (see full story and photos here)
