The DARE Cast is continuing to share their #WhoWereYouInHS stories on the DARE Facebook & Twitter profiles. Today Sandra Bernhard talks about who she was in High School
"I was the class commentator always on the ready with an opinion on politics the world at large. Letting the other kids know they could do better be more present. I sang, dressed like a hippie, longed to go to europe, come back and become an executive secretary in San Francisco, be fabulous and spread the post feminist message of self worth."
- Sandra Bernhard, "Dr. Mohr" in DARE
Emmy Rossum, Zach Gilford, Ashley Springer, Ana Gasteyer, Rooney Mara, Sandra Bernhard and Alan Cumming star in Dare, which opens November 13th from Image Entertainment.
In high school, what kind of person did you dare to be: risk-taking and lustful, melancholy and confused or simply safe and over-achieving? Dare follows three teenagers through their last semester of school: Alexa (Rossum, Phantom of the Opera), the smart, good girl who longs to break out of her shell; Ben (Springer, Teeth), the lonely outsider dealing with his sexuality; and Johnny (Gilford, Friday Night Lights), the rich, seemingly perfect bad-boy who has everything. In a last-ditch effort to shake things up before graduating and start living as adults, this unlikely trio take the biggest risks of their lives. In the process, they learn no one is exactly who they appear to be.
A Sundance Film Festival breakout, Dare is produced by Mary Jane Skalski (The Visitor, The Station Agent) and Jason Orans (Goodbye Solo), written by David Brind and directed by Adam Salky. Original music is by Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening) & David Poe.
The running time is 90 minutes. It's Rated R for sexual content, language and alcohol use - all involving teens.
